We have teamed up with the clever folks from MrSpeakers to bring you a fantastic competition for a chance to win a pair of the company’s excellent ETHER 2 planar magnetic headphones, worth £1,900!
Our Editorial Director, Chris Martens reviewed the ETHER 2 in Hi-Fi+ issue #172 where he wrote, “Internally, the ETHER 2 receives a number of important changes, including a new driver. ETHER 2’s driver diaphragm is the same size (71x45mm) as the ETHER FLOW diaphragm, but enjoys a whopping 70% reduction in the mass of its aluminium voice coil traces. Further, the ETHER 2’s driver was designed from the ground up to integrate TrueFlow driver technology, whereas the earlier ETHER models received TrueFlow features as after-the-fact add-ons. Next, the ETHER 2 features “an all-metal headphone cup and headband, with a carbon fibre driver baffle” and weighs in at feathery 290 grams (fully 95 grams lighter than the ETHER FLOW). Finally, ETHER 2 features the firm’s significantly improved VIVO signal cables, said to improve soundstage and imaging.”
He concluded by saying, “MrSpeakers’ ETHER 2 is light and incredibly comfortable to wear and it offers the refined and sophisticated sound qualities normally associated with headphones selling for £3,000/$3,000 or more. Happily, MrSpeakers will actually sell you a pair for a tick under £2,000/$2,000, which is good news for us all
